USPS, CSX, Cox Communications Bring Home Top Honors in 2012
ATLANTA – March 14, 2012 - T.E.N., a technology and information security executive networking and relationship-marketing firm, announced finalists and winners last evening for the ISE® Southeast Awards 2012. Awards were presented at a dinner gala held at the Westin Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. The awards recognize both Information Security Executives and Projects for outstanding achievements in risk management, data asset protection, compliance, privacy and network security.
This year’s recipient of the Information Security Executive® Award was Charles McGann, CISO, United States Postal Service. McGann was recognized for his previous award winning efforts that increased the Postal Service Executive Leadership Officers awareness of information security, expanding their knowledge base, and educating them in the forward-thinking utilization of technologies and processes to respond to the advanced persistent threats that are continually attacking the Postal Service resources.
Finalists for the Executive of the Year category were also showcased during the awards program for their achievements in the industry. They included Denise Wood, corporate vice president and CISO, FedEx and John Graham, VP global information assurance and risk, First Data Corporation.
The Information Security Project of the Year Award was awarded to CSX for “CSX Solves IAM Mainframe Challenges, Lays Foundation for Future.” Accepting on behalf of the project team was Mark Grant, director, enterprise architecture and information security. The project successfully demonstrated how a strategic, programmatic approach to Identity & Access Management (IAM) allowed for the organization to get the most from existing investments and maximize the return on new ones through creative strategic planning and sound project management.
Finalists for the Information Security Project of the Year Award included Booz-Allen Hamilton for “DoD Cyberscope Enterprise Reporting Service,” HealthSpring’s “Identity and Access Management Project (HS Secure and HS Access),” and IHG for its “Hotel Security Program.”
As part of the evening’s recognition, in addition to being awarded the Information Security Executive® Award, Charles McGann, CISO, United States Postal Service, was announced as the ISE® Southeast People’s Choice Award Winner. The award represents the nominee who best exemplifies information security leadership as voted on by the registered attendees.
The ISE® of the Decade Southeast Award was given to Phil Agcaoili, CISO, Cox Communications, ISE® Central Executive Award Winner 2009. The award, making its decade debut in 2012, will be given throughout the year to an exceptional information security executive who has achieved the highest distinction in advancing the security industry in their region. Agcaoili was chosen amongst eight previous ISE® Award winner nominees.
