Information Security Executive (ISE®) North America Winners Announced

Bring Home Top Honors in 2010

Atlanta, GA (October 29, 2010) – T.E.N.-Tech Exec Networks, Inc. announced finalists and winners last evening for the ISE® North America Awards 2010. Awards were presented at a dinner gala held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, Oxon Hill, MD. The awards recognize both Information Security Executives and Projects for outstanding achievements in risk management, data asset protection, compliance, privacy and network security. Nominees are chosen from the commercial, government and academic sectors.

This year’s recipient of the Information Security Executive Award in the commercial category was Michael Barrett, Chief Information Security Officer, VP Information Risk Management, PayPal. Barrett was recognized for his role as a leading security expert fundamentally interested in changing the field on a broader scale. His work on policy, industry standards, technical innovation field partnerships in cooperation with the authorities worldwide are assisting with the development of groundbreaking technical security standards.

Finalists for the Executive of the Year commercial category were also recognized during the awards program for their achievements in the industry. They included Tammy Moskites, CISO, The Home Depot, Chad Mead, Vice President and Technology Governance, Risk and Controls Global Leader, Cargill, and John Masserini, Chief Information Security Officer, Dow Jones and Jack Key, Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Privacy Officer, USAA.

The Information Security Executive Award in the government category winner was Douglas Maughan, Cyber Security Branch Chief, Command, Control and Interoperability Division Science and Technology Directorate, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Dr. Maughan’s projects, unlike many other agencies and organizations, advance through the full research and development lifecycle of research, development, testing, evaluation, and transition to produce the best unclassified secure solutions for public and private sector end users.  The results of the research initiated and supported by him have had an enormous impact in every home and business in the United States, as well as throughout the Federal Government and beyond. 

The Information Security Project of the Year Award was awarded to Northrop Grumman for “High Assurance OneBadge.” Chosen for its successful demonstration of a commercial enterprise’s ability to turn the merits of a federal directive into a successful internal deployment the OneBadge project paves the way for secure digital collaboration between government and industry at a time when cyber security is paramount to the protection of the U.S. economy, and to the security and well being of the U.S. and its citizens.

Other projects nominated for the Project of the Year Award were Heartland Payment Systems, “E3™ Project,” Lockheed Martin, “The I Campaign,” McKesson, “Product Risk Management for the Enterprise (PRiME)” and Qualcomm, “VCR (Virtual Clean Room) San Diego.”

As part of the evening’s recognition, Tammy Moskites, CISO, The Home Depot, was announced as the ISE® North America People’s Choice Award Winner. The award represents the nominee who best exemplifies information security leadership as voted on by the registered attendees.
