ATLANTA - March 17, 2008 - Today the winner of the Information Security Executive (ISE®) Southeast Award 2008 was announced.
Achievements in the information security industry were recognized at the prestigious ISE® Southeast Awards Gala on the evening of Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia.
The coveted ISE® Southeast Award was presented to Lynda Fleury, Assistant Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer at Unum, for her positive contributions and outstanding accomplishments to the industry through risk management, data asset protection, regulatory compliance, privacy and information security.
In addition to the winner, four other ISE® Southeast Finalists were showcased during the event - Barry Lloyd, Chief Information Security & Privacy Officer and Director of Operational Compliance, Delta Technology; David Palmer, Senior Director & Enterprise Information Security Officer, Hilton Hotels Corporation; Gene Scriven, Chief Information Security Officer, The Home Depot; and Wallace Wilhoite, Vice President, Security Operations, SunTrust Banks, Inc.
Gene Scriven, Chief Information Security Officer, The Home Depot, was named the People's Choice Award Winner for 2008. Gene received the accolade from the community of peers who attended the event and voted him as the executive who exemplifies the most attributes of a leader in the security industry.
The awards ceremony is part of the Leadership Summit, a two-day interactive platform that allows executives to discuss issues at the forefront of their business priorities. The Summit included dynamic keynotes from Anne Kuhns, Vice President of Information Security & Chief Information Security Officer, The Walt Disney Company; and Denise Wood, Corporate Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer, FedEx Corporation.
