Garrison Hu is a Principal Application Security Engineer within T-Mobile USA’s Digital Security Organization. He has been at T-Mobile on and off for 3 years, and has been a member of the larger information security industry for almost 10 years.
Garrison’s career within information security began at Boeing where he worked on the Vulnerability Assessment team to provide network and platform security assurance for Boeing assets used for commercial airline functions, NASA, and US and international military systems. Within 3 years, he led the architecting of a transformative continuous scanning automation model to raise the maturity and reduce manual efforts of vulnerability and risk assessors.
At T-Mobile, Garrison’s early role was as a cyber security engineer, where he served as a liaison between the security organization and project teams, evangelizing security practices and providing security guidance. In this role, he worked with a variety of emerging technologies at a time during which formal security practices had not been established, such as shared cloud tenancy and Hadoop. In his current role as Principal Engineer, Garrison provides strategy for the team and works with T-Mobile’s developer community to continue raising the bar and changing the security culture at the Uncarrier.
