Roy Wilkinson, PhD, CISSP, CPCS, CHS-V, HISP, has 30+ years of information technology experience, focusing in infrastructure and security. He is also a former corporate security manager, with 25 years of experience in physical security. This combination of strong experience in both information security and physical security allows him an extraordinary perspective in the field, and he is a recognized SME on the convergence of the two. Roy currently leads the security practice for the American Cancer Society, where he is responsible for enterprise-wide security strategy and policy, risk management, compliance and audit management, as well as day-to-day security operations.
Dr. Wilkinson is a recognized industry leader in the security field, and has been a featured speaker for regional, national and international security organizations and events, such as: ISSA Intl, ASIS Intl, ACFEI Homeland Security, SecureWorld Expo, CyberCrime Summit, USSIF, and others. He holds an extensive list of security certifications and honors, including induction into the Information System Security Association (ISSA) International Hall of Fame and the Georgia Association of Professional Private Investigators Hall of Fame. He has been honored with Fellow status by the American College of Forensic Examiners, and was awarded ISSA International’s Distinguished Fellow designation, the association’s highest honor.
Prior to accepting his position with the American Cancer Society, Roy was the CISO & Director of Security for a financial-industry firm, with responsibility for both information security and physical security, as well as regulatory compliance. Dr. Wilkinson also served as Chief Security Officer with an international consulting practice, his accomplishments notably including: target-hardening & securing of key personnel for Olympic sponsors, in addition to serving as Senior Security Consultant for the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
