Tony Spurlin, Vice President & Chief Security Officer for Windstream Communications, is responsible for the full lifecycle of enterprise information risk and security portfolio including: strategy, information risk, security architecture, identity/access management, security engineering and operations. He is a recognized industry leader, with notable success in leading the transformation of large corporate organizations and executing strategic information risk and security programs. Tony is a strategic and tactical leader with global experience building and motivating teams to foster engagement and cross collaboration in driving processes and technology to solve complex business problems.
Prior to joining Windstream Tony was the Global Chief Information Security Officer for Cox Automotive where he had overarching responsibilities for the strategic direction, design, build and monitoring of Cox Automotive’s information risk and security program. Cox Automotive’s business divisions encompass brand names such as: Autotrader, Manheim, Kelly Blue Book, DealerTrack and Next Gear Capital. He has also held information security and risk management leadership positions at companies such as Optiv, The Home Depot, LandAmerica and VeriSign.
Tony has over 25 years of information security, regulatory compliance and risk management experience working with organizations from leadership and advisory positions in various sectors including retail, healthcare, business services, telecommunications, government and banking.
Tony is a Georgia native earning his BBA in Management and Information Systems from Valdosta State University – Langdale College of Business.
