Dave McDermitt is Assistant Vice President and Information Security Officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

In this role, he is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and monitoring of the Sixth Federal Reserve District’s information security, as well as its risk management, policy compliance, identity and access management, and awareness efforts. Mr. McDermitt also oversees the District’s information technology security architecture, with a focus on security policies, security engineering, security operations, and information assurance. He chairs the District’s Information Security Committee and is a member of the Federal Reserve System’s information security group.

Mr. McDermitt joined the Federal Reserve in June 2011 as the Bank’s Information Security Director, where he led numerous efforts to identify information security risks and mitigate vulnerabilities. Prior to joining the Atlanta Fed, he was an Assistant Vice President and Cyber Security Architect for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a Fortune 500 professional services corporation. He is a former Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, where he was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal for service to the National Security Agency and Central Security Service.

A native of Marietta, Georgia, Mr. McDermitt earned a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama and a master’s degree in information technology management from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He was recently elevated to co-chair of the Atlanta CISO Executive Summit and is a member of the Southern CISO Security Council. Mr. McDermitt holds both Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) credentials.
