Dr. Sunil Lingayat leads the cybersecurity strategy, architecture, and cybersecurity technology functions across T-Mobile and is responsible for positioning T-Mobile and its products and services into an effective cyber resilience posture. Dr. Lingayat is currently in the midst of transforming T-Mobile cybersecurity from Cyber 1.0 to Cyber 2.0: transforming from reactive to proactive, from risk findings based approach to adversary driven, from incident driven to active defense, and from perimeter based controls to a de-perimeterized security architecture leading to a cyber resilient operational state. He and his team is responsible for translating Cyber 2.0 strategies into actionable programs aimed at delivering capability outcomes. Recent projects include - champion and launch T-Mobile’s overall Cyber 2.0 strategy and roadmap; define and launch enterprise wide ICAM (IAM) architecture alignment and transformation program; deploy active defense grid; build cyber range capability and exercises; champion and launch enterprise wide de-perimeterized Zero-trust transformation; DevSecOps, web perimeter, and API security reference architectures; Champion and define 5G security strategy, architecture and roadmap, and launch 5G Security Program.
Dr. Lingayat is a cybersecurity thought leader with over 20+ years leadership experience in roles ranging from Program Management, Strategy/Marketing, to Chief Engineer and CTO and business unit head with P&L responsibility. He focuses on Innovation, challenging the status quo (the Uncarrier), and “doing the right things right the first time.” Dr. Lingayat’s current interests and focus areas are in Cyber Resilience, Trusted cloud, Secure 5G, and Trusted Mobility. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from the Rensselaer University and a BS from the National Institute of Technology, India..
