Scott is accountable for the creation, implementation and oversight of a wide series of strategies and programs designed to limit information security risk across MGM Resorts International. He is responsible for coordinating risk and security efforts companywide that are consistent with regulatory and legislative requirements as well as corporate strategy and policy. He directs IT Security Governance and incident response efforts.

Prior to joining MGM International, Scott was the Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer at JCPenney Company, Inc. In that role he managed the teams responsible for security engineering, threat intelligence, identity and access management, compliance and risk management and business continuity.

Howitt previously worked at Alliance Data where he was the Director of Information Security. There he was responsible for all aspects of corporate information security, security awareness training, compliance and incident response. Howitt also served as the Chief Information Officer at Benefitmall and the Chief Technology Officer at jobs.com.

Howitt is a board member for the Retail Cyber Intelligence Sharing Center, which is dedicated to public and private security information sharing. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and servers on the Nevada Department of Homeland Security Cyber Commission. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the University of Texas.
