As Head of Information Risk Management, Tom Dunbar holds global responsibility for XL Catlin’s overall Information Risk Management program. This includes the company’s information risk and security strategies, tactics, planning, governance, architecture, and operations. Mr. Dunbar is responsible for the company’s information security policies and standards; and their associated awareness and education. He oversees the company’s IT forensics and eDiscovery efforts. Additionally, he leads XL Catlin’s IT compliance program which includes responsibility for Sarbanes Oxley and other regulatory requirements. Mr. Dunbar is a member of the Operations Risk Committee and co-chair of the Data Privacy Committee. He joined XL in 2002 as their first Global CISO.

Mr. Dunbar has over 18 years’ experience in Information Security. He holds both the CISSP and CISM certifications. Prior to joining XL Catlin, he was Director of Information Security Programs at Citigroup where he was responsible for the management of information security officers through the Citigroup global network and the direction of Information Security programs including policy, standards, training, awareness, metrics, and financials. Mr. Dunbar holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Mr. Dunbar and his team recently won the National Underwriter’s 2015 Excellence in Cyber Security Award. He was also selected as a 2014 All Star by Risk & Insurance magazine and is the recipient of the 2006 SC Magazine CSO of the Year award.
