Curtis Coleman is an Associate Professor, and the Founding Director of the Cybersecurity Education Center at Oklahoma Christian University, a designated National Security Agency (NSA) National Center of Academic Excellence for Cyber Defense Education. Professor Coleman is a retired US Air Force Officer, and he has had a distinguished, 20-year corporate career in Cybersecurity. For over 15 years, he was a Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Seagate Technology, a Fortune 50, multi-national digital storage manufacturing company, where he led their electronic security operations program. In that role, he directed the efforts to implement global security policies, practices, and technologies to ensure the protection worldwide of Seagate’s data and systems.
Professor Coleman currently serves by invitation from the Governor of Oklahoma, as the Secretary on the Oklahoma Cybersecurity Strategy Planning Task Force. On the committee, Professor Coleman represents the interests and cyber protection needs of K-12 and post-secondary education institutions. As a voting member, he is responsible for providing strategic oversight, planning, and budgeting management for a multi-year, multi-million-dollar cyber protection program for the State of Oklahoma.
As a nationally recognized thought leader, Professor Coleman has shared his cybersecurity expertise in the past by serving on advisory boards for major corporations including Intel, Salesforce, and FireEye. He is currently serving on Oracle's Cloud Security Advisory Board. In addition, Professor Coleman is a visiting scientist and Founding Board member of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Cybersecurity Innovation Research Center.
He holds multiple cybersecurity certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and he is a Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer. National and international cybersecurity conferences frequently invite Professor Coleman as their key note speaker. ExecRank lists Coleman in the Top 150 Security Executives Rankings in North America. Academically, Coleman is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Liberty University, where he is researching practical business application of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence systems.
