Betty Burke is currently serving on the ISSA International Board of Directors. She has also served for the MN-ISSA chapter as the President for the six years and is currently serving as the Membership Coordinator. As President, she has worked with the rest of the board to bring quality speakers, increase membership, increase sponsorship, and increase educational opportunities for members. Her role has contributed to the visibility of the chapter within the greater Twin Cities security world and with ISSA International. The chapter won Chapter of the Year for 2016.
Betty has over twenty years’ experience in Information Technology and Information Security in positions of progressive responsibility and technical expertise. She has worked on information security planning, developing and delivering security programs. She is respected as a decision-maker and creative problem solver with demonstrated ability to achieve desired results while maintaining effective team cooperation. She has worked with several security regulations and standards including HIPAA, ISO17799, COBIT, Payment Card Industry Standard, NIST Standards and IRS Publication 1075. Betty is CISSP and CISA certified.
In addition to her technical skills and abilities, she is an effective leader, manager and advocate for the organizational information security issues. She works well with people and is able to gain understanding and cooperation for addressing today’s security challenges. Betty has a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Catherine’s University. She has taken on several leadership roles within Toastmasters including VP of Membership, Sergeant-at-Arms and President.
