Philip Beyer is the Director of Information Security for The Advisory Board Company. As the leader of security operations, he is responsible for protecting customer data in use by research, consulting, and talent development teams as well as over 30 software products.
Mr. Beyer is the co-founder of the Texas CISO Council, a regional steering committee composed of security leaders from private industry and the public sector. The group's mission is to facilitate collaboration between organizations for the purpose of advancing security initiatives both internal and shared.
Mr. Beyer previously worked as the Information Security Officer for the Texas Education Agency and as a Lead Consultant for Denim Group. He has extensive experience leading security assessments and strengthening information security programs. He has expertise in technical compliance testing, improving risk management processes, developing detection and incident response capability, assessing software security risks, and designing security for large-scale web applications.
Mr. Beyer is a past President of the ISSA Capitol of Texas Chapter (Austin ISSA), recognized as Chapter of the Year in 2013. He holds a BS degree in Physics from Trinity University and the CISSP certification. He is active outside the office as a martial artist and ultra-marathon runner.
