Ray is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Scotiabank. Scotiabank is a leading multinational financial services provider and Canada's most international bank, with more than 81,000 employees world-wide. As the head of Scotiabank’s Information Security Program since 2010, Ray leads a global team of professionals, safeguarding its information assets in over 55 countries.
Ray joined Scotiabank in 1998 as the Forensics Investigator with Corporate Security. Since then he has held numerous progressive roles within the Bank, including the role of Vice President & Deputy CISO from 2004 to 2010. Prior to Scotiabank, Ray served as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for 23 years.
Ray has a B.A degree from the University of Manitoba, and holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Risk Professional (CRP) designations. Ray plays an active role in the information security community.
Ray’s strategic and operational responsibilities include areas such as Security Technology, Customer Online Authentication and Protection, Security Forensics & Civil Investigations, Security Governance and Compliance, Information Security Advisory Services, Identity & Access Management, Release Code Management, Business Continuity Management, Security Research and Projects and Strategic Planning & Reporting.
