A highly sought after international speaker, Jerry Davis is the Director, Information Technology Directorate and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at NASA Ames Research Center in the heart of Silicon Valley, California. As the CIO, Mr. Davis provides innovative strategic information technology services in support of Ames’ missions in the areas of landing, descent and entry vehicles, next generation air traffic control, High End Computing (HEC/Super Computer), High Speed Networks, business applications, telecommunications and radio frequency (RF) spectrum management. Mr. Davis is also the senior executive responsible for the operation and management of the NASA enterprise wide Security Operations Center (SOC). Prior to Ames, Mr. Davis was the senior executive responsible for information, technology and privacy for the Department of Veterans Affairs, setting strategic security and privacy priorities and solutions for nearly 400,000 employees serving 20 million Veterans. Mr. Davis’ career has also included serving as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for both NASA and the US Department of Education. Mr. Davis has a diverse background in the classical security disciplines with expertise in personnel security, physical security and cyber security. The foundation of Mr. Davis’ career is built upon two decades of service as a security consultant for Fortune 500 companies and as a Counterintelligence Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), as a Counterintelligence Specialist with the United Sates Marine Corps and as a sub-rosa private investigator with a focus on fraud management. Mr. Davis is a combat decorated Marine with service during the first Gulf War and has garnered numerous awards and recognitions for his work in national level cyber security issues and intelligence matters.
